Petrea Burchard - Narrator, actor, and author (Camelot & Vine; Act As If: Stumbling through Hollywood with Headshot in Hand) read at a recent meeting of the So Cal chapter of the Historical Novel Society. Petrea has been speaking on top panels with other audio industry reps, narrators and producers. She’s a wealth of fascinating facts. Narrators must avoid dairy and alcohol. The largest independent producer of audiobooks, pioneering Deyan Audio Institute, is right here in Northridge, California. Pro SAG/AFTRA actors will work out a contract with an author that won’t break the bank, if the author owns rights. Clearly we’d just scratched the surface of Petra’s useful advice when the agenda bade us move on.
Since the chapter meeting, Petra connected me with a dynamite prospective speaker. She then attended the Audio Publishers Association Conference in New York, and is probably brimming with fresh info.
